MIZUIKU: WATER EDUCATION

Objectives:

Enhance youth’s knowledge and understanding about water resources and sustainable water conservation as well as environment protection by integrating environment studies through many activities.

Target Group:

Student Grade 4 to Grade 6 in 45 primary schools

Target Area:

Bangkok, Rayong, Saraburi (15 Schools in each province)

Honorary Advisors:

  • Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment
  • Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment

Activities:

  • Teachers’ Training

    Enhance Teachers’ knowledge about water resources so they can integrate into their routine teaching.

  • Youth Water Camp

    Provide opportunity for youth to learn about water resources conservation and environment creatively through hands-on activities.

  • In-Class Teaching

    Integrate water and environment conservation into classroom.

WATER SCHOOL MODEL

Objectives:

Integrate water education and conservation into schools by using the Four Water Care Approach (Policy, School Stakeholders, Infrastructures, and Communities). The Water School Model empowers people in school to look beyond themselves and understand how they can contribute to a positive change to the environment, especially to water resources.

Target Group:

Primary School (one selected school by the committee in each province)

Target Area:

Bangkok, Rayong, Saraburi (1 School in each province)

Honorary Advisors:

  • Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment
  • Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment

Activities:

  • Plan & Implement

    Committee and the target school brainstorm together to plan on how to integrate the Four Water Care Approach, then turn it into an action.

  • Water Youth Camp

    Provide knowledge about water through hands-on activities.

  • Mizuiku Club

    Set up Mizuiku Club to drive water conservation in school sustainably and reach out to nearby community.

WATER EDUCATION CURRICULUM CONTEST

Objectives:

Encourage undergraduate students to design curriculum on water conservation for primary students by using a creative approach. The curriculum must focus on enhancing understanding about water resources and water conservation to lead to sustainable environment protection.

Target Group:

Undergraduate students studying in the faculty of Education or any other faculties

Target Area:

Nationwide

Honorary Advisors:

  • Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation
  • Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment
  • Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment

Activities:

  • Orientation for participants explaining the objectives and expected outcomes of the contest.

  • Training for participants on ways to design curriculum for primary students on water resource preservation by using a creative approach

  • Participants design curriculum

  • Committee choose 5 teams for the Semi-Final round to present their curriculums to the Committee

  • Committee choose the winning teams
